One of my favorite authors, Orson Scott Card, is going to write the first few issues of Ultimate Iron Man, a new Marvel title that is launching early next month. How will the author who wrote the classic Ender’s Game (which is actually recommended reading now in a number of high school English classes believe it or not), who has never written for this type of medium before, hold up? First issue: Great – interesting way of beginning the origin story, done in a twisty way that made it its own. I caved and bought both covers, even though I really only liked one of them. The collector in me won out and the compulsion to “have every single one!” took control.
Second issue: yet to come
Second issue: still good, though it was late and now #3 is late as well. Frank Miller set a very bad trend; now all big time books are super delayed consistantly. Boo!
